This booklet compiles ten knitting patterns that I have created over several years. They’re intended to demonstrate both the method of Portuguese Knitting and different techniques. The patterns were created to teach classes in various events around the USA and abroad, inspired by knitting books for design.

The Portuguese Style of Knitting has advantages over other methods, being very efficient on the hands and making the purl stitch very easy to perform, among other things. It is an old way of knitting and present to this day not only in Portugal, but also in countries like Peru, Brazil, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Italy. Knitters have been curious about this less known method and after 20 years of teaching, it is getting some recognition in knitting circles.

The techniques practiced in these patterns include knitting with the non-public side facing, stranded knitting using two colors, and texture knitting combining knit and purl stitches. These patterns are perfect for practicing Portuguese Style Knitting; however, all the patterns in this book can be worked in any style. It is up to the knitter to decide what method to use, and no adaptation or “translation” of the pattern is necessary.

This product is a downloadable PDF booklet. It includes ten original patterns designed by Andrea Wong, with pictures and charts to help you knit each project.
